Terms and Conditions

1. Contract

Your contract for booking Dove Cottage is with Carol Woods trading as Durham Cottages, Weardale House, 58 Front Street, Sherburn Village, Durham DH6 1HB. Telephone 0191 372 1810, Mobile 07740928802 Email enquiries@durhamcottages.com and web site www.durhamcottages.com.

2. Bookings

Bookings can be made for stays of three nights or more at all times of year subject to availability. All bookings are on a self-catering basis, all costs for fuel, energy and WiFi are included.

• Availability is shown on our web site www.durhamcottages.com. Bookings may be made online, via email or via phone 07740 928802.
• Payment will only be accepted in Sterling, via cheque, bank transfer or credit card via PayPal
• A deposit of £100 is due with booking; reservations made by telephone will be valid for 7 days allowing time for the client to send a cheque.
• The final balance will be due 6 weeks before date of arrival. If the booking is made within 6 weeks of arrival the total cost will be due on booking.
• All cheques should be made payable to Durham Cottages.
• We will contact you if you forget to pay the balance when due, but if no payment is received we will assume the booking is cancelled.
• We will confirm your booking in writing either via mail or email.

3. Cancellations

Cancellations  will be refunded up to two weeks before arrival. A full refund less an administration fee of £25 will be returned. If you cancel within two weeks of your arrival date we will only refund your booking fee if we managed to relet the property. We recommend that you take out cancellation insurance. 

In the event of further lockdowns or travel restrictions in the UK we will refund or transfer your booking which ever you choose.

4. Period of Hire

Dove Cottage is available from 2pm on the day of arrival. We will meet you at the cottage with the keys. Arrival time should be confirmed by the client within the week before arrival and can be from the time the cottage is available until 6pm. For later arrival please telephone to check before booking

The cottage should be vacated by 10.00am on the day of departure.

5. Property Use

Dove Cottage is for a maximum of two people each; booking for more than 2 people will not be accepted. We reserve the right to refuse admittance if these terms are not observed and will deem the hire cancelled forfeiting the payment.

6. Wi-fi

Dove  Cottage is  equipped with unlimited wireless broadband which is included in the rental price. If you use this service you must agree to the following "I agree not to use the cottages broadband facilities for any unlawful purposes".

7. Data Protection

Durham Cottages are the sole data controller of all data given to us by clients and prospective clients and will work according to the Data protection Act 1998 at all times.

8. Pets

One dog will be accepted in Dove Cottage, if you have more than one dog please contact us before making the booking. Pets must not be left unattended in the cottage. If in doubt please contact us before booking.

9. Complaints

Should there be any cause for complaint during your stay please contact us as soon as possible so that we can endeavour to sort it out. Please see our complaints procedure for further details. Available in each cottage or by request.

10. Breakages or Damage

You are responsible for any breakages or damage during your stay, please report it to us as soon as possible.

11. Smoking

Smoking is not allowed in the cottage, but it is possible to smoke in the garden.
