INTRODUCTION

Our self catering cottage is in a terraced block in Gilesgate on the edge of Durham City. PRE-ARRIVAL

The nearest bus stop is 100 meters from the cottage
The nearest train station is 1 mile away. There are accessible taxis at the station.

ARRIVAL & CAR PARKING

There is off street parking with no parking restrictions outside the house.
The street is flat.

MAIN ENTRANCE

The front entrance is level with no steps
The door is 80cm wide and the keyhole locks are 100 &110cm high.

COTTAGE

The entrance leads straight into the lounge area with a small step down of 5cm.
There is a separate kitchen off lounge with step of down of 15cm from the back door into the back courtyard.
Stairs in lounge lead to the first floor bathroom and large double bedroom.

LOUNGE/DINER

Tastefully furnished including 2 seater sofa & one easy chair, both with arms, footstool, TV DVD & Radio.
Small dining table included 75cm high with 2 chairs with padded seats & no arms. Further dining chairs are available upstairs
Lounge carpeted with short pile carpet
Furniture is moveable and there is adequate free space

LAUNDRY

There is no separate laundry but there is a standard size washer/dryer which is front loaded provided in the kitchen

KITCHEN

Galley kitchen tastefully and fully fitted with all modern appliances
Work top height is 90cm
Oven door drop down height and lowest shelf is 33cm
Sink height is 90cm
Hob height is 93cm
Highest shelf height in fridge is 65cm
Small freezer situated at work bench height with highest shelf at 150cm
Evenly lit kitchen with mixture of spotlights and strip light
Good contrast between floor cupboards and other surfaces
Flooring is laminate

BATHROOM

Door width is 70cm
Bath with flexible shower above
Bath height is 55cm
Toilet seat height is 45cm
White suite with good colour contrast between floors and walls
Flooring is laminate

BEDROOM

Door width is 80cm
Double bed provided with height from floor to top of mattress being 60cm
Double wardrobe and selection of separate drawers
Largest drawer height is 95cm
Single sofa bed settee with no arms
Bedroom carpeted with short pile carpet
There is good contrast between the walls and the door and carpet.

REAR YARD

Small secure yard with small step down of 15cm from kitchen with table and chairs

The cottages are rated four stars by the Visit England, the best rating being five, so you can be sure they are of a very high standard. Each holiday cottage is fully equipped and well maintained.

Short breaks of 3 days or more available all year round. Bookings can start on any day of the week.

Long Term Lets Breaks

If you are coming to Durham to work at the university, or elsewhere for between two weeks and several months our cottages are ideal for visiting academics and business people.
